This weekend, we will be remembering those who sacrificed so much for our freedom and quality of life. So in honor of Memorial Day, we have rounded up a few free printables for you to enjoy. Words cannot express how appreciative and thankful we are for all service members and their families.

Georgia and I have been experimenting with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint on a few projects and wanted to share our thoughts. First of all, Chalk Paint (any brand) claims that you do not have to sand or prime furniture before applying the paint. Huge bonus for the impatient! The paint is somewhat expensive but it covers well so you may not need as much as you think. We especially love the colors provided by Annie Sloan and the variety of textures that you can achieve with the waxes and finishes.
Today, we want to show you a up-cycle project that didn’t quite make the mark.
Georgia purchased this very inexpensive red table at a local auction for $15.
She had purchased the Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue Chalk Paint for another project and decided that this pretty little thing screamed Duck Egg Blue. At the auction, we noticed the damage and/or water rings on the top of the table. We wondered if the Chalk Paint would cover it without primer? Worth a shot.
In order to celebrate our new blog, I decided to host a small craft party with a few of my girlfriends. For Christmas, I made several photo canvases that were all over Pinterest and received rave reviews from the recipients. This project is perfect for a small craft party, all supplies are easily available, the total project costs around $20 each and most importantly, any mistake is fixable!
Let the great creative adventure begin! Welcome to our new DIY and craft blog, georgia & daughter. We are a mother-daughter duo that thrive when we have projects, fabric and paint all over the house. We love a good antique/thrift store, upscale yard sales and live auctions and we’ll share our tips and tricks to making the most beautiful life from DIY. That is our main goal with this blog, to share our passion for the DIY lifestyle.
You will also meet a group of wonderful woman that belong to our mother-daughter poker group, The Blue Hairs and Baby Blues. These women are all unique and inspire us daily with their wit, wisdom and wacky way of life.
Thank you for visiting and we hope you’ll enjoy our new adventure in blogging!
