Georgia and I have a lot of projects to catch up on during the last few days of summer. Later this week, we’ll be sharing our “Honey-To-Do” List that we’ve created for ourselves to keep track of projects. Boy, is it long!
Since we do not have any completed projects to share with you, I thought I would reveal my favorite furniture makeover. My home has a breakfast nook right off the kitchen and while most people would rationally place a table and chairs in the space, our family just wouldn’t use it. Plus, our back door opens right into the space eliminating a few feet. We use our dining room for most meals so we dedicated the space to storage and the dogs. We need a lot of storage in and around our kitchen as my husband is a wonderful cook and loves all types of kitchen gadgets.
I wanted a vintage piece that I could paint a bright, vibrant, happy color. I found this cabinet and hutch at a local antique mall. I paid a little more than I originally budgeted but it was the right dimensions and I had searched for several months. I paid $100 for the cabinet.
I removed the hutch and gave the piece a thorough cleaning before painting. As you may know, we are huge fans of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and I used Florence for this end table and I knew the new kitchen cabinet would be stunning in this shade of turquoise.
We use this cabinet as our adult beverage station with our favorite wines, monogrammed decanters and wine glasses. It also provides closed storage for the husband’s special occasion kitchen gadgets. Every time I see the piece, I smile as I truly love the entire look for our kitchen nook!
