Every year, Daughter and her college friends gather for a holiday party titled the Reindeer Romp. It’s become a much anticipated tradition where the adults can jingle and mingle before the kid-infused holiday. Gifts are not exchanged but rather they delight in the company of each other with good food and drink. The tag ling should read, “Reindeer Romp: Eat, Drink and be Extra Merry.” This year, Daughter wanted to make a small gift for each couple, nothing elaborate or fancy, just a small token of love.
The tutorial for creating the canvases is the exact same as our DIY Photo Canvas project. We printed off all four of the Nest of Posies designs on white card stock.
We picked up a 10 pack of 8 x 10 inch canvases for $10 from Michael’s. The pack is usually $20 and we used a 50% off coupon. We had the ModPodge, card stock and black paint on hand.
To prep the canvases, we painted the edges black with craft paint.
Next, we trimmed the card stock to fit the canvas.
To adhere the card stock printable to the canvas, we covered the canvas with ModPodge as well as the back of the card stock.
Next, we carefully positioned the card stock on the canvas. We used a credit card to smooth out any air bubbles – this is the most important step! Make sure to turn the canvas in different lights to see the air pockets.
Let the ModPodge set for about 15 – 30 minutes and then cover the entire canvas again with ModPodge to seal the printable.
It’s that time of year when we all need small, thoughtful gifts for hostesses, neighborhoods, teachers, caregivers, etc. This simple craft can be used in a variety of ways – placed in a Christmas tree, propped up on mantle or bookcase, set inside a wreath, arranged in gallery wall and many more possibilities.
