Ahh . . It’s finally Memorial Day, the unofficial start of summer in the South. After a cruel winter (at least to Southerners), the summer mirage on the horizon is now a realty. Daughter recently created this “Lake Survival Cup’ favor for her best friend’s Bachlorette party. The weekend getaway was hosted on Lake Hartwell and these tied in perfectly with the laid back vibe.
So to kick off the summer, we wanted to share the fun favor idea for your next summer soiree.
Daughter picked up 10 insulated Party Cups from Wal-Mart. They had a variety of colors – pink, yellow, green and blue. You could probably find different sizes, shapes and colors at any big box store. They were located in the Seasonal section of the store.
She also picked up a few items to fill the “Lake Survival Cup.” Items included lip balm, suntan block stick, a flamingo stir stick, a water toy and a few aspirin (for the next morning). You could adjust the items to fit your specific party. Huge, funky sunglasses would have been cool or a goofy hat.
Even at a Bachlorette party, Daughter had to have a craft hour. The weather was less than ideal, with drizzle and cold temperatures. After lunch, we gathered around the dining room table and started crafting. The girls were given a set of paint pens and designed their own cups. Most of the girls used the anchor symbol with 2014 on the cups. Others added their monogram, Lake Hartwell and of course, they created their own hashtag: #betsysbash.
The project was perfect for this party. Simple enough to chat away while they were drawing. Who doesn’t love a monogrammed solo cup? And the cups will be re-usable and a conversation started at the next party! (The painted cups are hand wash only. If you place them in the dishwasher, the paint were peel over time.) The painted solo cup party favor would be perfect for any occasion: birthday party, family reunion, or a girls’ weekend!
We are off to enjoy the long weekend! We wish you and your family a wonderful and safe holiday!
